Kevin O'Brien, P.P. has served on
Rahway’s Planning and Zoning Boards and chaired the Zoning Board
for 4 terms. A member of the 1996 Master Plan Committee, he has
also served as a Commissioner on the Rahway Redevelopment Agency
and is currently Vice Chairman of the Rahway Center Partnership.
He holds a graduate degree from NJIT and has appeared before over
100 land use boards throughout northern and central New Jersey,
representing both applicants and objectors. He has served as
Zoning Officer in two towns and taught zoning and planning courses
for the NJ Planning Officials, the League of Municipalities, the
NJ Association of Planning and Zoning Administrators and as an
adjunct at Rutgers University. He has worked on behalf of
numerous land use boards, municipalities and counties. He
has served as Vice President of the New Jersey Planning Officials,
and is a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, the
Union County Transportation Advisory Board, the American Planning
Association and serves as Treasurer of the NJ Chapter of the
Association for Commuter Transportation.
Kevin currently serves on the Boards
of Downtown New Jersey and the ARC of Union County. A Fellow of
the Advanced Institute for Transportation and a graduate of the US
Marine Corps Officer Candidate School, Kevin holds a National
Association of Counties award for “ingenuity and creativity.”
Author of several guides and manuals, he has been published in
many planning and transportation periodicals, has served as Editor
of Commuter News, a transportation weekly and is a contributor to
the Palisades Group Security Newsletter. Formerly Operations
Manager of the Union County Paratransit System and Manager of the
Port Imperial FerryBus System, he currently serves as President of
Shamrock Enterprises, Ltd., in Rahway (732) 388-4765, a land use
planning and transportation consulting firm.
