John
Schiavone
Mr. Schiavone has been actively involved
with bus transportation for over 20 years. He worked for the
American Public Transportation Association (APTA) for seven years
and served as staff advisor to several committees.
In addition
to APTA’s Bus Equipment and Maintenance Committee, Mr.
Schiavone served as staff advisor the Police and Security Committee
where he organized several workshops and committee activities
for transit security personnel. He also staffed APTA’s
Fare Collection Committee where security aspects of revenue played
an important role in the Committee’s activities.
Since
becoming an independent consultant in 1990, Mr. Schiavone served
as project manager for several transit-related projects and has
authored five research studies for the Transportation Research
Board, including: Retrofit of Buses to Meet Clean Air Regulations,
Transit Bus Service Line and Cleaning Functions, Monitoring Bus
Maintenance Performance, Understanding and Applying Advanced
On-Board Bus Electronics, and Electrical/Electronic Training
Requirements.
